Welcome to the newest world created by Karen Lynch in PAWN Fae Games book 1. I loved this book because there was a great balance between the action/dialogue and the pertinent details about how the new world works. The plot moved along quickly with snappy dialogue that made me laugh out loud at times and with action scenes that helped develop a move vivid picture of the characters and the settings. One thing I loved best about this book was that Jesse is a strong, smart protagonist. She made the best choices in the heat of the moment and didn’t do stupid things just to add drama; her inner dialogue was logical and comical. Her quick wit and banter made for great entertainment and kept certain faeries on their toes. The supporting characters are fantastic as well. It never ceases to amaze me how much I love the supporting characters in each book. These characters added another layer of detail and emotion to the story line. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense of finding out and figuring out piece by piece how the plot is going to unravel. After Jude Duarte I wondered if I'd ever find a Female MC who's her own kickass hero. After reading Relentless trilogy and Warrior, I mused if any of Karen Lynch's other books would live up to the amazing plot and brilliant writing. And then...I read...Pawn.
Jesse James is awesome, 6 ways from Sunday and every day of the week! A glasses wearing, book smart, perseverant, save myself heroine who takes up the family business of fae bounty hunting to find her missing parents. Along the way, she meets some interesting characters and unknowing influences many events. There are many loose ends, questions and unfinished plots in this book 1 of the trilogy but it doesn't end on a cliff hanger .
My biggest regret is that I couldn't put it down and read it so fast and now I have no idea when the next book comes out! If you count Karen Lynch, Holly Black, Leigh Bardugo, Sarah J Maas, etc as your favourite authors - this is a must read! - Amazon Reviewer
